Pipers River - Northeastern Tasmania
The birthplace of Méthode Tasmanoise, where the Hill-Smith Family’s love affair with Tasmania began, and home to the Jansz Wine Room & Vineyard. This charming little part of the Tamar Valley is tucked away in the northeast corner of the island and colloquially known as ‘Sparkling Tasmania’. Being close to the Bass Strait, oceans breezes keep the region’s temperature slightly higher in the winter minimising frosts, and down in the summer, allowing grapes to ripen slowly, ensuring more intense, delicate and refined flavours. The pure, red, free-draining basalt soils provide the perfect places for vines to develop world-class fruit destined for Australia’s finest sparkling wines.
Our estate is home to a diverse range of endangered flora and native species including Tasmanian Devils, wallabies and echidnas. It is a prime example of our commitment to the environment, biodiversity and sustainability and our love for the island’s natural beauty.
